Austin Homes Tour
The project consists of 2 residences in one urban SF-3 lot, utilizing
the City of Austin Infill-Design tools such as a main house with secondary
apartment. The project creatively complies with all aspects of the
'McMansion' regulations, while still allowing for quality, spacious
living.
The Riverview Condominiums are a smaller scale version
of the high-rise condominiums downtown, while offering more opportunities
for outdoor living spaces with large covered- and screened-porches,
outdoor grilling, roof-decks, herb gardens and courtyards with large,
mature pecan trees treats that one doesnt get when living
in a high-rise condo.
Such amenities were carefully considered in the design, paying close
attention to living patterns and their expressions through the architecture.
The placement and size of porches as well as the interaction between
the outside and the inside were carefully planned, by employing:
- moveable glass walls that seamlessly separate, yet
integrate, the outdoors and the indoors.
- a kitchen as the center of all activities, suggesting a living pattern
that revolves around cooking and entertaining.
- expansive, raised patios, allowing for tree-top and city views.
