We like to ensure quality and personal touch into everything we do here at Urban Studio. That includes not only our house designs but down to our business cards, website and yes, even yard signs.
The signs themselves were printed by our friends at Thomas Printworks on East 3rd street (near the Convention Center). They offer a half-inch thick exterior grade plywood which we have put to the test in the Texas Sun, holding color and clarity very well.
Making a frame to hold the signs is the next step. We chose to use copper tubing, found in the plumbing aisle at Home Depot. Copper is not only easy to work with, cut, and connect by elbows and T-shapes, but has a beauty in color that changes when exposed to different climates. It won't stay shiny and bright for long, but takes on a dull metal brown and will begin to Patina with turquoises and white.
Attaching the sign is the final step is using copper straps that we send a bolt with a lock-nut to secure the sign to the frame.
Copper does hold more value than other metals which inherently make our signs worthy of being stolen from their intended locations, however we see that as a good thing by the fact that the metal will at least be recycled one way or another. Of course we just hope the sign is there long enough to get our name out to a few folks that might one day give us a call.

CHicken s#%t sunday
If you haven't ever put your money on the table to bet on where Ginny or Batman will drop a s#%t then you have a great chance every Sunday starting around 4pm at Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon on Burnet Road.
An original Austin Establishment keeping it weird, Ginny's offers a unique experience and spectacle of a bunch of people (Lone Star beer in hand) standing around a dimly lit loud table, routing for a Chicken to poop. The Chickens seem to pay no mind to the patrons encouraging it to lay it's prized mark on their 4 by 4 numbered spot.
The most fun is keeping an eye on the ticket lady who, by all fairness, has to run across the parking as a mob of people quickly line up to buy their chance at the Bingo table.
The odd's are slim but the pot is big! Even if you don't win it's all in fun and makes for a nice Sunday afternoon. If you're lucky you'll catch Dale Watson playing with his band. So check it out, bring friends or meet new ones there, and take your chance at Chicken Shit Bingo!
